Request for Volunteers for the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum

12/01/2021

We are happy to announce that we are planning to reopen our buildings to the public in the near future!  One of the first steps we’ll need to take in order to do so is to arrange our volunteer schedule.

We plan to be open to the public on Fridays (11:00 to 17:00), Saturdays (11:00 to 17:00), and Sundays (12:00 to 16:00).  Two volunteers and one staff person will be onsite at all times that our facilities are available to the public.  We are recruiting volunteers to be present at the museum during the following shifts:

We have prepared a volunteer signup form online, which is available@ https://forms.gle/xMYiJMD2L85P53hG7.  This form allows users to communicate when they’d have availability to volunteer in relation to the shifts listed above.

Volunteering for one shift would be wonderful. Any more than that would be also welcome.  Volunteers onsite would rotate between covering the front desk and acting as a docent for our permanent exhibition on display at the Mission building.  When we have temporary exhibitions on-display at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Extension, we will offer scheduled tours for Museum visitors, where a docent leads groups who are interested to see the exhibition at specific times of the day.

Please get back to us, either via the online volunteer signup form or email us at volunteer@sdchm.org.  Once we are able to assemble a draft schedule, we will send for your review. Opening day is still to be determined but likely by mid-January 2022.
