SDCHM Awarded Support to Revitalize our Programs for Schools and Community Groups through the California Arts Council.

08/25/2021

Earlier today, the California Arts Council announced a revision to a grant award announcement, through its Arts and Cultural Organizations General Operating Relief Program.  We, at the SDCHM, were one of the organizations to benefit from the expansion of this program, receiving $28,500 to revitalize our arts and cultural education program offerings for schools and community groups.

As readers may be aware, our programs for schools and community groups have been impacted by the global pandemic, and we have accordingly shifted to online delivery of these programs.  With support from the CA Arts Council, we will be able to subsidize online delivery of Classroom Exhibit Presentations in early 2022, making these programs available to schools and community groups free of charge for the first three months of 2022, starting on January 1, 2022 until 03/31/2022!

Please check out our school programs webpage for additional information about school programs.  As of this time, we offer a menu of five program topics, and look forward to expanding our menu to include new Classroom Exhibit Presentations considering resilient women of California's Chinatowns (to be developed in collaboration with the California Women's Museum), as well as one based on an upcoming multi-site exhibition titled The Lifetime Achievements of Maestro Jahja Ling: the Story of a Chinese-American Conductor.  Please stay tuned!
