San Diego State University Chinese Cultural Center and the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum are proud to present a special series on the history of Chinese Americans at SDSU.  This inaugural talk will be presented by Dr. William Tong, who will discuss new laser-based methods for archaeology and cultural heritage applications in China and Europe.

About our speaker and moderator:

Dr. Bill Tong is a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Interim Vice Provost of San Diego State University.  He joined SDSU in 1985 after his postdoctoral research at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory with the U.S. Department of Energy.  He has been awarded major grants by the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, and the U.S. Department of Defense, among others.

A native of Hong Kong, Y. Barry Chung received his A.M. and Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his B.A. in educational psychology and counseling from the National Taiwan Normal University.  Prior to his appointment as Dean of the College of Education at SDSU in 2018, he was Associate Dean for Graduate Studies in the School of Education at Indiana University Bloomington.
