Summary

David Seid and John Leewong share memories of Chinese school

Description

The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum is partnering with the SDSU Chinese Cultural Center to bring twice-monthly remote educational programming to our community via this series of talks and discussions.  This series offers unique insights into Chinese history, Chinese culture, American history and lifeways of Chinese Americans, with a particular focus on objects represented in the Museum’s permanent collection

To be bilingual as a Chinese American was and is a big advantage. Early Chinese immigrants learned English from the church. As their children are born, they want the children to learn Chinese.  On March 6th, we will be joined by John LeeWong and David Seid, who will speak from their experiences attending Chinese School.  With commentary provided by David Seid, John LeeWong will trace back how the Chinese Language School started, how it was when he was growing up, and how it is today.
