Description
Woodblock printing developed around 757 C.E. in China (Tang Dynasty). The oldest printed book exists in the world today is the Chinese Diamond Sutra in 868 C.E. By the 16th century, multi-block color prints that look like water colors emerged and influenced Japanese woodblock prints. This lecture will cover woodblock prints throughout the centuries for instruction manuals, Buddhist scriptures, literatures, wall posters, greeting cards, stationeries, etc.
