Professor Sandra Wawrythko, a specialist in Buddhist and Daoist epistemology will consider the question of happiness, accompanied by Moderator Bob Stein and Discussant Alex Li.
Biographies:
Sandra A. Wawrytko, Ph.D., former Director of the Center for Asian & Pacific Studies (2014-2021), Professor in the Department of Philosophy at San Diego State University; specialization: Buddhist and Daoist epistemology and aesthetics in the context of neuroscience; Founder and President of the Charles Wei-hsun Fu Foundation, a tax-exempt, non-profit educational family foundation organized in 1997 in loving memory of the life and work Fr. Fu (1933-1996), Taiwanese-American scholar and teacher; we provide funding for faculty research and scholarships for students as well as supporting non-profit organization focused on philosophy and environmental causes.
Bob Stein (M.D., Thomas Jefferson University Jefferson Medical College) is an experienced museum docent, who graduated from the SDMA Docent Training Program in 2016. He retired from a career as a cardiologist and staff member at Palomar Hospital, where he served in many different leadership roles. He joined the SDCHM as a member of our Board of Directors in 2020 and is serving as interim Director.
