Asian Pacific Historic District walking tour

This walking tour of the Asian Pacific Thematic Historic District explores the Japanese Nihonmachi, the Filipino Quarter, and the African American Harlem of the West that existed with San Diego's little-known Chinatown from nearly 100 years ago. San Diego's Chinatown began in the area in the 1860s, settled by abalone fishermen but was also shared by the Japanese and Filipino communities.  Docent Amie Lee Garapich will lead November's edition of the walking tour, drawing from her memories as a young person growing up in the Chinese Congregational Church, where her father, Peter Lee, served as minister.
