TCAE&B: Zodiac Heads from the Yuanming Yuan and the Negotiation of Cultural Heritage (Zoom Lecture)

The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum is partnering with the SDSU Chinese Cultural Center to produce this monthly Zoom lecture series.

In 1860, an imperial garden of the Qing dynasty emperors was looted and burned by British and French troops during the Second Opium War.  Patricia J. Yu's (余敬格) talk will address the bronze animal zodiac heads from the Yuanming Yuan 圓明園 (Garden of Perfect Brightness) and trace their lives from auction to repatriation and beyond.   Yifan Li (李一凡) will serve as discussant for Patricia's lecture, and Lilly Cheng (劉麗容) will moderate.
